Snead Celebrated as AEC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Lancaster, Pa. – (12/23/2024) – Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week as the Red and Gold’s junior guard was one of five Griffins in double figures while making six steals in Gwynedd Mercy University’s recent 105-70 victory at Saint Elizabeth University (Dec. 17). Snead finished the contest 15 points, while recording two rebounds and four assists in excess of his steals.
Centenary University (N.J.) sophomore guard Kenneth Rankin (Ewing, N.J.) was named the AEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The Weekly Honor Roll included Marywood University senior guard Brendan Franko (Wantage, N.J.) and Immaculata University senior guard John Proctor (Coatesville, Pa.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (10-0) made it 10 in a row in 2024 with Tuesday evening's 105-70 victory at Saint Elizabeth University (3-8)! The Red and Gold's ferocious defense forced the Eagles into a program-record 36 turnovers and totaled a program-record 30 steals in the impressive effort that placed five Griffins in double figures. Gwynedd Mercy University also shot 50.0% (42-of-84) from the floor, scored 56 points in the paint, 48 points off turnovers, 32 points on the fast break, and 21 points on second chances. Snead was 6-of-7 (.857) from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 (1.000) from the free throw line while fueling the Gwynedd Mercy University’s historic performance.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Monday, January 6, when they host Mount Aloysius College for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
