Student Internships
The student internships listed below are designed to provide a professional experience that requires hands-on work and an engaged mind. They will give students the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with members of the Department of Athletics and Recreation, including administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and other professionals from both the Athletics and Communications field.

Interested students will need to get final approval from Sports Management Program Coordinator, Maddie Herman MsEd. Students can receive up to 120 credit hours for the internship and are able to receive fewer credits with a reduced workload.

Social Media and Promotions Assistant – Work with the Director of Athletic Communications and other members of the Department of Athletics and Recreation to create and implement engaging promotional material for various social media platforms.

Qualifications: Experience with social media, strong written communication skills, and flexible hours/available to attend evening and weekend events. Approval by the director of the University’s sport management program.

Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with the Director of Athletic Communications.
- Collaborate with administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and professionals in the field.
- Perform research on current trends and audience preferences.
- Generate, edit, publish, and share daily posts with original text, photos, and videos.
- Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications like ScoreShots.
- Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness and reach.
- Develop thorough, engaging, and purposeful social media posts/campaigns to promote Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics.
Video Media Assistant - Work with the Director of Athletic Communications and advisor in the Gwynedd Mercy University Digital Communications program to film home contests and practices, add production elements to live-streamed athletic events on  Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Digital Network (via BlueFrame Production Truck), take part in pregame and postgame interviews, and create content for the College’s TV network, the athletics website, and social media platforms.

Qualifications: Experience with cameras and audio/visual equipment, experience with film editing software, strong verbal communication skills and an on-camera presence, and flexible hours/available to attend evening and weekend events. Approval by the director of the University’s sport management program.

Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with the Director of Athletic Communications.
- Collaborate with administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and professionals in the field.
- Work with the Audio/Visual Staff to provide video coverage of the College’s 18 intercollegiate athletic programs.
- Operate camera during practices to provide coaches with footage for instruction.
- Operate camera during live game streams for viewers.
- Plan stories, designs, concepts and graphics for video production.
- Add production elements like logos, graphics, highlights, and commercials to live game streams with use of BlueFrame Technology Production Truck.
- Generate, direct, edit, and publish television programs, marketing videos, and highlight features.
- Oversee scriptwriting, direction, voice over, photography, and other elements that are necessary to complete video making process.
- Suggest and implement new ideas that develop brand awareness and reach.
Broadcast Communications Assistant - Work with the Director of Athletic Communications and professionals in the field to provide in-game public address, play-by-play, and color commentary for live broadcasts.

Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with the Director of Athletic Communications.
- Collaborate with administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and professionals in the field.
- Book and brief interviewees.
- Conduct pregame and postgame interviews.
- Produce, script, and host, video features.
- Prepare, write, and present news coverage or analysis on athletic events.
- Research the College’s athletics history, game statistics, and current news stories to provide insight during live broadcasts, video projects, and interviews. Â
- Provide in-game announcing, including starting lineups, scores, penalties, and departmental promotions.
- Provide play-by-play during live streamed events; informing viewers of current game situations and strategy.
- Provide color commentary during live streamed events; share analysis, background information, personal experience, and knowledge on current game situations and strategy.Â

Statistician & Analyst Assistant - Work with the Director of Athletic Communications and professionals in the field to provide in-game scoring, as well as, statistical research, and analysis for Gwynedd Mercy University’s 15 intercollegiate athletic teams.

Qualifications: Experience and familiarity with sports statistics. Approval by the director of the University’s sport management program.

Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with the Director of Athletic Communications.
- Collaborate with administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and professionals in the field.
- Assist the Director of Athletic Communications in providing in-game scoring using Stat Crew: the Automated Scorebook and PrestoStats.
- Research the University’s athletics history and game statistics to provide insight for the marketing and advertisement of milestone accomplishments, records, and achievements.
- Develop and organize methods used for tracking statistical accomplishments, milestones, and records.
