Gwynedd Mercy University (15-3, 3-2) put a stop to their recent two-game skid with Monday evening's decisive 86-48 victory over Mount Aloysius College (5-11). The Griffin defense turned the Mounties over 13 times in the first half, allowing them to grab an early 12-2 (15:34) advantage and hold on for a 39-27 (0:34) halftime lead. After intermission, the outcome was never in question as the Red and Gold ensured victory with a 52.9% (18-of-34) shooting performance from the field that included eight threes (8-of-17, .471) and was supported with a perfect 3-of-3 (1.000) showing at the free throw line. Summers led four Griffins in double figures with 18 points; he also grabbed seven rebounds, while making two assists and a steal.
Gwynedd Mercy University snared their third AEC victory of the season with Wednesday night's 86-80 triumph over Centenary University (N.J.) (8-10, 2-3). Behind a career-best 29-point performance from Summers, the Griffins came back from an early 15-6 (15:11) deficit to lead the Cyclones by as many as 12 points, 30-18 (8:10) with eight minutes remaining in the first half. Unfortunately, the Red and Gold would need to reassert themselves in the second half as a 42-40 (0:01) halftime lead was extended to a 77-67 (1:46) perch to withstand Centenary University's final push. Summers was 11-of-16 (.688) from the field and 6-of-8 (.750) from the free throw line. He also recorded two rebounds, an assist, and four steals.
Gwynedd Mercy University trailed Neumann University (14-5, 5-1) for the duration of Saturday evening's AEC affair as the Griffins suffered their second league loss by falling behind by as many as 21 points, 33-12 (8:10), and rallying for a 45-31 halftime spread, before an 85-69 Knight final. Summers led the Red and Gold with 28 points; he was 9-of-11 (.818) from the floor including five threes (5-of-7, .714), and he hit 5-of-6 (.833) from the free throw line while grabbing three rebounds and making an assist.
