Sensational Snead Named AEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
 
Lancaster, Pa. – (11/24/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) put together back-to-back career nights in the Griffins’ recent victories over Eastern University (W, 94-80 on Nov. 19) and the University of Valley Forge (W, 93-85 on Nov. 22) to garner the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award. The Red and Gold captain averaged 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game, while recording career-highs of 24 points and 34 points in the consecutive victories.
 
Snead was joined on the AEC Men’s Basketball Weekly Report by the AEC Defensive Player of the Week, Neumann University senior forward Dante Dupreist (Philadelphia, Pa.) and AEC Weekly Honor Roll mentions; Marywood University junior guard Michel Loftin (Atlanta, Ga.), Neumann University senior guard D.J. Earl (Middletown, Del.), and Saint Elizabeth University junior guard Jonathan Quiles II (Hockessin, Del.).
 
Snead stole the show in Wednesday night's 94-80 win over Eastern University (2-2) as the Gwynedd Mercy University (5-1) captain was there at every turn, totaling a career-high 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists, a block, and three steals in the victory. The Red and Gold overcame an early 9-2 (16:44) deficit, taking the lead on a Snead fastbreak, 16-15 (10:22), and riding the highs to a 43-29 halftime advantage. In the second half, the Griffin protected their perch with consistent defensive pressure and accuracy at the free throw line (16-for-20, .800). Snead was joined in double figures by senior guard D.J. Johnson (Norristown, Pa.) (14 points), graduate guard Dylan Harris (Bloomsburg, Pa.) (12), and sophomore guard Bruce Smith (Philadelphia, Pa.) (12).
 
Gwynedd Mercy University was on their mark in the first half of Saturday's 93-85 victory at the University of Valley Forge (3-5) as the Griffins hit 6-of-11 (.545) from three-point range and found their way to the free throw line regularly - 10-of-15 (.667) - en route to a 44-36 halftime lead. After intermission, the Red and Gold continued to hit the three-point basket - 6-of-13 (.462) - using perimeter success to grow their lead to as many as 20 points (64-44, 13:46) before holding off several Patriot rallies in the eight-point conclusion. Gwynedd Mercy University was led by another career performance from Snead as the captain led four Griffins in double figures with 34 points, while commanding the court with four rebounds, four assists, and five steals.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University compete again next Saturday, November 29, when they visit National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I member, University of Maryland Eastern Shore for a 4:00 p.m. exhibition.
