Gwynedd Mercy University Places Pair on AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (2/24/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University junior attack Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) and graduate defenseman Jim Bickel (Fairless Hills, Pa.) were two of three student-athletes recognized on Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll. The former finished with a team-high six points (4 goals, 2 assists), three ground balls, and a caused turnover in the Griffins' 11-10 season-opener win over Lycoming College (Feb. 22), while the latter offered strong defense against the Warriors and a previously played Albright College (L, 10-15 on Feb. 19).

Neumann University swept the major awards as junior attack Brendan Boschi (Litchfield, N.J.) was named the AEC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper Owen Avelar (Audubon, Pa.) garnered the AEC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award. Seaman and Bickel were joined on the AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll by Immaculata University graduate attack David Azzarano (Wayne, Pa.).

Gwynedd Mercy University (1-2) scored five of the last seven goals in this Wednesday afternoon's contest at Albright College (1-2), but the late Red and Gold's rally ran out of time in an eventual 15-10 loss to the Lions. Senior midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) headlined the Griffin effort with five points (4 goals, 1 assists), 11 shots, and a ground ball. His classmate, Jared Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) did his best to keep Gwynedd Mercy University in the contest with 25 saves, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Bickel helped Devine’s cause with a caused turnover, while Seaman totaled two goals on five shots. He recorded the Red and Gold's only man-up tally (1-1, 11:28 1QTR) and hustled to two ground balls.

Gwynedd Mercy University had the last word in Saturday's home opener versus Lycoming College (0-1) as a connection from junior attack Nick Citrigno (Southampton, Pa.) and senior attack Dominic Romania (Phoenixville, Pa.) served as the deciding tally in a 11-10 (3:16) triumph over the Warriors. The contest was tied at 4-4 (0:36) after the first quarter and 6-6 (1:11) at halftime. The Red and Gold took an 8-7 (1:55) lead into the fourth quarter thanks to a man-up goal from Devine, but still needed scores from Kish (9-8, 9:33), freshman attack David Crespo (Furlong, Pa.) (10-8, 8:22), and Romania to run Lycoming College out the GMercyU Athletic Complex.

Seaman finished the affair with six points (4 goals, 2 assists), three ground balls, and a caused turnover. Bickel was part of a tremendous defensive effort, recording four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Athletic Complex on Wednesday, February 26, for a 4:00 p.m. contest against Drew University.
