McFeeley Named AEC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, Eide Earns Second Honor Roll Recognition

Chase McFeeley (Mullica Hill, N.J.) was the winning goalkeeper in the Griffins’ recent league wins over Marywood University (W, 10-8 on Apr. 12) and Neumann University (W, 16-11 on Apr. 15). The Griffin netminder totaled 26 saves and six ground balls in the victories, earning himself the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week title. Jason Eide (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), who earned Honor Roll recognition with 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists), 11 ground balls, and five caused turnovers against the Pacers and Knights.

Gwynedd Mercy University (6-7, 4-0) gained a pair of valuable AEC wins with last week’s victories at Marywood University (5-7, 1-3) and Neumann University (4-9, 0-3). The Griffins gained their edge over the Pacers with extra goals in the second and fourth quarters as they led by a goal at halftime, 6-5, and two at game's end; 10-8. Eide recorded the game-winning tally (9-7, 10:02 4QTR) as part of a five-point (2 goals, 3 assists) performance that also came with five ground balls and four caused turnovers. McFeeley totaled 14 saves and four ground balls in the win (3-5).
Gwynedd Mercy University stayed perfect in league play and collected their fourth AEC just three days later with a 16-11 victory at Neumann University (4-9, 0-3). There, Eide led a spirited Griffin second-half effort with a four-point stretch that separated Gwynedd Mercy University from an 8-8 halftime stalemate to a 12-8 (5:04, 3QTR) perch. Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) (4 goals, 4 assists) recorded eight points apiece; the former also recovered a team-high six ground balls and caused a turnover. McFeeley totaled a dozen (12) saves and a pair of ground balls in the win (4-5).
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, April 19, when they host Centenary University (NJ) for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
