Crossley Collects Second AEC Offensive Player of the Week Award
Lancaster, Pa. – (1/23/2023) – Senior forward
Haley Crossley (Philadelphia, Pa.) made her fourth appearance on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report (Jan. 23) with today’s Offensive Player of the Week honor. Crossley – who was also named the AEC Offensive Player of the Week on December 12 - helped Gwynedd Mercy University to a 73-54 win over AEC rival Neumann University (Jan. 18) and reached 1,000 points in her collegiate career with her 12th point of a 86-75 loss to Cabrini University (Jan. 21).
Gwynedd Mercy University (9-8, 2-3) looked to continue climbing the AEC standings as they traveled to Neumann University (9-8, 2-2). Griffins found themselves down 5-2 at the 8:42 mark in the first quarter, however, after a layup by senior guard
Kelly Owens (Schwenksville, Pa.) at the 7:22 mark the Griffins would take a 6-5 lead and never look back. Crossley put on a show, going 9-of-21 (.429) from the field with game-highs in points (22), rebounds (16), and steals (3). She also recorded two assists and a block.
Gwynedd Mercy University looked to make it three straight AEC wins on Saturday as they welcomed Cabrini University (8-10, 4-1) to the Griffin Complex. Early struggles defensively for the Griffins led to their 86-75 defeat. Just 36 seconds into the third quarter, Crossley hit her milestone with a straight-away three-pointer that cut the Caviler lead down to just five point; 47-32. She finished the game with 25 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and a steal.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Wednesday, January 25th, when they travel to Centenary University (N.J.) for a 6:00 p.m. AEC tipoff.
