Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (1/19/2024) – "We had a great fall of achievement on the field and I am pleased to say that our student-athletes impressed in the classroom as well," said Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo. "I am happy to announce that 131 student-athletes earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher this semester, earning them recognition on the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite." He continued, "Overall, our student-athlete body produced 34 4.0's and combined for a 3.25 departmental GPA. I want to thank our coaches, staff, and advisors for all the work they do to keep our student-athletes on task!"  
 
Established in the fall of 2021, the Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite award honors student-athletes who earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the given semester. For the 2023 fall semester, the Griffins combined to earn a 3.25 GPA with 34 student-athletes posting individual 4.0's and 131 student-athletes garnering recognition as Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite.
 
The top male team GPA was recorded by the baseball team, who combined for a 3.42 GPA. Meanwhile, the top female team GPA was shared between the women's basketball team and the women's cross country team who both combined for a GPA of 3.64. With 17 members earning recognition, men's lacrosse placed the most student-athletes on the Athletic Academic Elite. 13 of the University's 17 intercollegiate athletic programs achieved a GPA of 3.0 or better this fall.
