Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (1/28/2025) – "Our student-athletes continue to impress me," said Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo. "Our student-athlete GPA (Grade Point Average) is better than last fall, we had more 4.0's, and those with a 3.5 or above increased by more than 10. I want to congratulate Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach Catie Jasowak and her teams for respectively earning the Department's highest male and female team GPA's last fall and recognize the 142 members of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Fall 2024 Academic Elite!" The men's cross country team scored a 3.85 GPA, while the women's cross country team reported a 3.762 GPA. Established in the fall of 2021, the Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite award honors student-athletes who earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the given semester.
 
Overall, the Gwynedd Mercy University student-athletes combined for a 3.34 GPA. The average is more than a full point higher than Fall 2023's 3.25 mark. Meanwhile, 36 Griffins turned in a 4.0 GPA and 142 reported a GPA of 3.5 or higher; both totals are better than last Fall's respective totals of 34 and 131. With 18 members earning recognition, the baseball team placed the most student-athletes on the Fall 2024 Athletics Academic Elite. For the women's teams, softball team and soccer teams tied for the most members with 15 student-athletes apiece on this semester's Academic Elite roster. In all, 16 of the University's 17 intercollegiate athletic programs achieved a GPA of 3.0 or better for the Fall of 2024.
