Greensboro, N.C. – (7/23/2026) – Yesterday, July 22 ,The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recognized Gwynedd Mercy University as a recipient of the 2025-2026 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award.

The Griffins were one of nearly 500 collegiate baseball programs nationwide to receive the honor. Gwynedd Mercy University was included among the NCAA Division III recipients after the baseball program recorded a 3.4 team grade point average during the 2025-2026 academic year.To qualify for the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must be led by a current ABCA-member head coach and maintain a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the academic year.

The recognition adds to an impressive year in the classroom for the Gwynedd Mercy University baseball program. Thirty-one Griffins were named to the 2025-2026 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) All-Academic Team.

Gwynedd Mercy University earned its third ABCA Team Academic Excellence award under Head Coach Joe Brooks. The Griffins placed five student-athletes – sophomores Connor Hafto (Washington Township, N.J.), Dylan Ganey (Langhorne, Pa.), as well as a trio of juniors; Michael Inglisa (Delran, N.J.), outfielder Noah Waldron (Collingswood, N.J.), and outfield/first baseman Karl Wissmann (Cinnaminson, N.J.)- on the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Academic All-District Team and inducted another three – seniors Jon Cimino (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), A.J. Johnson (Hillsborough, N.J.), and Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.) – to Chi Alpha Sigma; the National College Athlete Honor Society. 

Founded in 1945, the ABCA is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. It's over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 41 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association members have broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth, and Travel.
