Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (6/6/2023) – "Our student-athletes worked extremely hard in the classroom this spring. I am happy to announce that 113 student-athletes earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher this semester," said Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics
Keith Mondillo. "We had 34 perfect 4.0's and achieved a 3.07 departmental GPA. I want to thank our coaches, staff, and advisors for all the work they do to keep our student-athletes on task. I look forward to more great grades in the fall semester to come!"
Established in the fall of 2021, the Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite award honors student-athletes who earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher for the given semester. For the 2023 spring semester, the Griffins combined to earn a 3.07 GPA with 34 student-athletes posting individual 4.0's and 113 student-athletes garnering recognition as Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite.
The top male team GPA was recorded by the men's indoor track and field team, who combined for a 3.52 GPA. Meanwhile, the top female team GPA belonged to women's basketball team and their impressive 3.72 GPA. With 18 members earning recognition, men's lacrosse placed the most student-athletes on the Athletic Academic Elite. The women's basketball team had 11 student-athletes earn recognition. All 17 of Gwynedd Mercy University's intercollegiate athletic programs achieved a GPA of 3.0 or better this spring.
For the 2022-2023 scholastic year, top team GPA's were achieved by men's lacrosse (3.44) and women's basketball (3.65). As a whole, the Griffins achieved a 3.18 GPA. The complete list of members for the Spring 2023, Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite is provided below.
