Biography
SOPHOMORE (2022) – Varilla (16gp-16gs) was the Griffins' top scorer with team-highs in goals (59), points (71), shots (119), shooting percentage (.496), game-winning goals (4), and free position goals (13). She recorded the game-winning tally in victories over King’s College (Pa.) (W, 15-4 on Feb. 16), Delaware Valley University (W, 19-5 on Feb. 23), Keystone College (W, 19-6 on Feb. 26), and Wilkes University (W, 21-7 on Mar. 2), and garnered a spot on the All-Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Lacrosse Second Team with Top-10 numbers in goals (6th), points (T5th), and shots (T5th, 119). Varilla also totaled 30 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers. She was named the AEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on March 21 after offering career and season-highs in points (11), goals (7), and assists (4) in Gwynedd Mercy University’s 25-14 victory over Saint Mary’s College (IN) (Mar. 9). Varilla also recorded four ground balls and a caused turnover in the win. Her impressive season ranks third all-time in shots (119), tied for third in game-winning goals (4), fifth in goals, sixth in points and free-position goals (13-of-33, .394), and seventh in shots on goal (89).
JUNIOR (2023) - Varilla (17gp- 17gs) junior season was nothing short from outstanding. She was the Griffins' top scorer with team-highs in the following catagories; goals (59), assists (16), points (75), shots (131), and free position goals (13). Varilla also tallied 16 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and 29 draw controls. She was an AEC Weekly Honor Roll mention on March 6, March 13, and April 24 while recording her 100th career point in a 15-5 loss to Bryn Mawr College (Mar. 9) and her 100th career goal in a 14-13 overtime loss at Immaculata University (Apr. 1). Varilla was named to the All-AEC Second Team for the second straight season.
SENIOR (2024) - Varilla (14gp-14gs) finished her historic season with team-highs in goals (8th, 47), points (61), and shots (8th, 99); her totals in the first and last both ranked her eighth among her conference contemporaries. She also recorded five caused turnovers, 21 ground balls, and 29 draw controls. The two-year captain recorded her 150th career goal in against Marywood University (L, 12-26 on Apr. 17) and her 200th career point against Centenary University (N.J.) (W, 21-8 on Apr. 24); the latter milestone earned her a mention on the AEC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll (Apr. 29). Varilla finished her collegiate career (47gp-47gs) as Gwynedd Mercy University’s all-time leader in shots (1st, 358), while also ranking among the program’s Top-10 all-time in assists (8th, 43), points (5th, 214), and goals (3rd, 171).
