Biography
FRESHMAN (2022) - DeSimone helped GMercyU's men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish (4th of 6, 89 points) at the 2022 Atlantic East Conference Championship (Oct. 29) with his 24th-place time of 32:27:4 (8K). He also recorded Top-20 finishes at the Gwynedd Mercy University Invitational (17th, 21:21.5, 5K on Sept. 1) and Penn State Brandywine Invitational (17th, 21:03.7, 5K on Oct. 22).
SOPHOMORE (2023) – DeSimone enjoyed a brilliant sophomore season, serving as the Red and Gold’s top finisher in seven of their eight scheduled events. He was named the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Runner of the Week on September 18 and October 23 for his respective performances at Kutztown University’s DII/DIII Challenge (85th, 33:39.30) and Lebanon Valley College’s Last Chance Run Fast Meet (82nd, 31:26.75).
JUNIOR (2024) – DeSimone was the only Griffin to compete in each scheduled race. He was also their top finisher in each event; he finished 25th (19:33.5) at the Bryn Mawr College Invitational (Aug. 30), 27th (33:09.4) at the Philadelphia Cross Country Classic (Sept. 7), 27th (31:11.3) at the Osprey Open (Sept. 14), 38th (32:22.2) at the Penn State Abington Invitational (Sept. 21), 95th (30:46.4) at the DeSales University Invitational (Oct. 12), 39th (30:12.2) at the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Run Fast Meet (Oct. 25), 18th (30:45.2) at the AEC Men’s Cross Country Championship (Nov. 2), and 139th (30:48.0) at the NCAA DIII Metro Regional Championship (Nov. 16). His time of 19:33.5 at the Bryn Mawr College Invitational and his time of 30:12.2 at the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Run Fast Meet serve as personal records at the 5K and 8K distances, respectively. DeSimone was also one of seven local collegiate student-athletes recognized on the 2024 Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) Men's Cross Country Academic All-Area Team.
SENIOR (2025) – DeSimone’s swan song was a steady improvement from begging to end as the heart of the Red and Gold enjoyed a five-kilometer (5k) personal-record at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Blue and Gold Invitational with a time of 18:46.1 (35th) and later, an 8K personal-record of 29:22.0 (277th) at Rowan University's Border Battle (Oct. 18). The pinnacle of the season came with an All-AEC Second Team performance in the league championship; 11th (31:21.7). He also placed 123rd (29:47.7) at the NCAA Division III Metro Regional.
