McShea Hurdles Record Attracts AEC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, Soubik Secures Honor Roll
Lancaster Pa. – (5/3/2022) – Senior Siobhan McShea (Ephrata, Pa.) made her third appearance on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Track & Field Weekly Report, this time garnering the AEC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor with her school record 400-Meter Hurdles time (1st, 1:05.94) at the Lions’ Invitational. Meanwhile, sophomore Brandon Soubik (Lansdale, Pa.) earned an AEC Men’s Track and Field Weekly Honor Roll appearance with his Top-20 finishes in the 400-Meter (16th, 51.72) and 200-Meter (11th, 22.57).
This past weekend, Gwynedd Mercy University traveled to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) for the Lions' Invitational. The story of the weekend was a school-record 400-Meter Hurdle from McShea; a time of 1:05.94 earned her first place in the event and 60th in the Nation. McShea also placed 29th (4.37 meters) in the Long Jump and 10th (1:02.64) in the 400-Meter. She was joined in the 400-Meter by sophomore Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.), who placed 24th (1:09.01).
The Gwynedd Mercy University men’s events were highlighted by Top-20 finishes from Soubik, who finished 16th (51.72) in the 400-Meter and 11th (22.57) in the 200-Meter. He was joined in the 400-Meter by sophomore Melvin Mathew (North Wales, Pa.) (47th, 1:02.48) and in the 200-Meter by senior Ilya Soulaimanov (Newtown, Pa.) (55th, 25.37).
Gwynedd Mercy University competes next on Saturday, May 7, when they visit Immaculata University for the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Championship Meet.
