Brasier Bashes for Second AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll Appearance

Lancaster, Pa. – (3/28/2022) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior catcher/outfielder T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) was named to the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Honor Roll after going 6-for-18 (.333) with three solo home runs in the weekend doubleheader at Immaculata University (L, 3-13 and L, 1-12 on Mar. 26). He also recorded four runs, a double, five runs-batted-in (RBI), and a stolen base during the Griffins’ 0-4 week.

Four doubles and a single brought home four Gwynedd Mercy University (7-12, 0-3) in the top of the second inning, 4-0. Unfortunately, the Griffins lost to Delaware Valley University (6-6) on March 22 as the Aggies cut the deficit in half with two runs in the fourth inning, 4-2, and surpassed the Griffins with five runs in the fifth inning; 7-4. Four Griffins recorded multiple hits; Brasier was one of them, knocking a pair of runs with his second-inning double down the left field line.

Gwynedd Mercy University opened their AEC schedule with Saturday's (Mar. 26) twin bill at Immaculata University (11-4, 3-0). The Mighty Macs split 13 runs between the third (7 runs) and sixth (6) innings, overshadowing a pair of Brasier solo home runs and a first-inning run-scoring single from senior catcher Nate Campbell (Royersford, Pa.); 13-3. Immaculata University then scored the first seven runs of the nightcap before another Braiser solo shot broke up the shutout in an eventual 12-1 final. Brasier was 3-for-8 with three runs and three RBI in the doubleheader.

After a 48-minute flurry delay, the AEC finale between Gwynedd Mercy University and Immaculata University got underway. Both teams scored a run in their first at-bat, 1-1, but the Mighty Macs separated in the third inning, using a sacrifice fly and a one-out single to take a 3-1 lead. The Griffins battled back, cutting the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth inning with a hustle home on a bad pick-off from sophomore center fielder Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) and tying the score at 3-3 in the sixth inning with a two-out, RBI single from Campbell. Unfortunately, the Griffin rally was all for not as the Mighty Macs stole a 5-3 league win with solo tallies in the seventh and ninth frames. Brasier went 1-for-5 with a stolen base.

Gwynedd Mercy University briefly breaks from their AEC schedule to host Elmira College for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Thursday, March 31.
