Brasier Bashes Way On To AEC Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (3/7/2022) – Senior catcher/outfielder T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) was 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base (1-for-1), and three runs-batted-in (RBI) in Gwynedd Mercy University’s 13-1 victory over the University of Valley Forge (Mar. 1). Since reaching The Ripken Experience, Brasier has gone 5-for-10 (.500) with four walks, four runs scored, and four runs knocked in on a double and a pair of home runs. In all, he offered a .500 (7-for-14)/.632/1.071 slash line that earned him a spot on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Honor Roll.

Weather forced Tuesday's game versus the University of Valley Forge to playable grounds at James Ramp Memorial Recreation Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, Gwynedd Mercy University (3-6) grabbed an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, 3-0. The Griffins added a run in the second (4-0), fourth (5-0) innings before Brasier doubled in a run in the fifth (6-0) and two more in a three-run sixth inning with his two-out, two-run single through the left side.

Braiser went 1-for-3 in a 7-0 loss to the University of Mary Washington (Mar. 4). A day later (Mar. 5), he went 2-for-5 with a walk, three runs scored, and four batted-in in Gwynedd Mercy University’s 16-8 loss to United States Coast Guard Academy. Brasier scored on a first-inning triple to left field from junior first baseman first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) and homered in a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings.

Facing a familiar foe on foreign soil, Gwynedd Mercy University met Delaware Valley University at Myrtle Beach High School for Sunday's nine-inning affair. A pair of two-out singles and a balk had their consequence, as the Aggies staked a 3-0 lead in their first at-bat. The Griffins looked to match the production in the bottom of the opening frame, but were only able to manufacture two runs with a lead-off walks to senior second baseman Jake Martell (Yardley, Pa.) and Brasier, a sacrifice from Price, a ground out from senior left fielder Brett Swire (Boyertown, Pa.) (3-1), and a wild pitch; 3-2. Delaware Valley University extended their lead to 4-2 with a run in the second-inning score and there the spread remained as both bullpens held firm to the final out. Brasier was 2-for-2 with two walks and a run.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Tuesday, March 8, when they meet Catholic University for a 10:00 a.m. first pitch at The Ripken Experience's Ebbets Field.
