Pugh Praised on AEC Women’s Volleyball Honor Roll
Lancaster, Pa. – (9/16/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior middle hitter
Charlotte Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named to the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll for her play in the Griffins’ recent 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23 on Sept. 11) loss to Alvernia University. Pugh recorded with 13.0 points (10 kills, 2 solo blocks, 2 block assists), five assists, and nine digs against the Golden Wolves.
The AEC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week award went to Centenary University (N.J.) junior Poppy Skjonnemand (Southampton, U.K.), while her teammate freshman Rey Bennett (Prescott, Ariz.) was named the AEC Women’s Volleyball Specialist of the Week. Pugh was joined on the AEC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll by Marywood University sophomore defensive specialist Catie Woolf (Fremont, Ohio) and junior middle blocker Taylor Hallam (Harrisburg, Pa.), as well as Saint Elizabeth University sophomore defensive specialist Alyssa Wells (Castle Rock, Colo.) and junior middle blocker Dadlyna Louis (East Orange, N.J.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (3-2) jumped out to an 11-5 start and won the opening set versus Alvernia University (3-2) by a 25-23 measure. Unfortunately, the Golden Wolves evened the score with a 25-23 win of their own in the second set and went on to victory with subsequent wins of 25-22 and 25-23; 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23). Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) (11) both recorded double-digit kills, while freshman setter
Brynn Crooks (Philadelphia, Pa.) was a factor as well with four kills, 26 assists, five aces, and 15 digs.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Wednesday, September 17, when they visit Penn State Brandywine for a 7:00 p.m. match.
