DeCarlo Earns AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
Lancaster, Pa. – (4/14/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University junior infielder Jimmy DeCarlo (Ridley, Pa.) was recognized on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Honor Roll for his play in the Griffins’ last two league contests with Neumann University (L, 1-5 on Apr. 9/L, 1-7 on Apr. 10) and Centenary University (N.J.) (L, 2-21 and W, 5-4 on Apr. 13). DeCarlo went 7-for-13 (.538) with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, a run, and two runs-batted-in (RBI) in four games against the Knights and Cyclones.
The AEC Baseball Player of the Week award went to Marymount University graduate outfielder Jordan Dickson (Moseley, Va.) while the AEC Baseball Pitcher of the Week was given to Neumann University senior Zach Mullins (Woolrich, N.J.). DeCarlo was joined on the AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll by Marywood University senior catcher A.J. Giannetti (New City, N.Y.), Immaculata University fifth-year infielder Steven Theisen (Garnet Valley, Pa.), and Neumann University sophomore infielder Anthony Rakotz (Vineland, N.J.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (10-17, 1-7) eventually completed their rain-delayed league games with Neumann University (15-6, 5-1) in back-to-back days with a home-and-home series last Wednesday and Thursday. The Griffins lost the both contests; 5-1 and 7-1, respectively. DeCarlo was 3-for-4 with a run in Wednesday’s home contest as he singled in the third inning, doubled and scored in the sixth, before leading off the Red and Gold half of the eighth inning with a single back through the box. He also went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday’s road game as he singled a run home in the first inning and singled with one out in the sixth inning.
The Griffins began their three-game series with AEC rival, Centenary University with a Sunday road trip to Hackettstown, New Jersey. There, the Cyclones beat the Griffins 21-2 before Gwynedd Mercy University earned its first league win of the season with a 5-4 triumph in game two. DeCarlo went 2-for-5 against Centenary University with a walk and an RBI. He plated the first run of game one with a first-inning sacrifice fly before walking in the third inning and singling in the fifth. In game two, singled in the third inning and was hit by a pitch, but left stranded in the seventh.
Gwynedd Mercy University completes their AEC series with Centenary University today, Monday, April 14, with a 3:00 p.m. contest.
