Seaman and Gaffney Sweep AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards
Lancaster, Pa. – (3/24/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University swept the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Lacrosse Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season as junior attack
Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) and sophomore long stick midfielder
Bryce Gaffney (Turnersville, N.J.) garnered the respective titles following their performances in the Griffins’ recent 21-3 triumph at Cairn University (Mar. 22). Seaman recorded a program-record nine points (7 goals, 2 assists), 16 shots, three ground balls, and a caused turnover, while Gaffney headlined the Red and Gold’s defensive efforts with a shot, six ground balls, four caused turnovers and a 1-for-1 (1.000) performance on the face-off.
AEC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll included Marywood University senior long stick midfielder Thomas Carroll (Collegeville, Pa.) and senior attack John Scibello (Glenolden, Pa.), Immaculata University junior defenseman Bradley Mead (Medford, N.J.) and senior attack Bailey Manion (New Egypt, N.J.), as well as Centenary University (N.Y.) freshman midfielder Sean Quinones (Cranford, N.J.) and Neumann University junior attack Connor Hurley (Littleton, Colo.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (4-6) made it three wins in a row with Saturday's one-sided 21-3 triumph at Cairn University (0-6); the Griffins scored the first 15 goals of the contest - with six coming from Seaman (14:16, 7:16, 2:12, 0:27, 12:34, 11:41) - and finished off the Highlanders with 3-1 spreads in both the third, 18-2 (3:34), and fourth quarters (21-3, 1:55). Seaman finished with seven goals on 16 shots, two assists, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. He got plenty of help from senior midfielder
Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.), who matched a season-high seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) while recording six shots and a ground ball. Gaffney headlined a defensive effort that won 19-of-27 (.704) face-offs, and were successful on 17-of-18 (.944) clears, and matched their season-high in caused turnovers (12).
Gwynedd Mercy University opens their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule on Friday, April 4, when they host Centenary University (N.J.) for a 4:00 p.m. Senior Day contest.
