Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.) and fifth-year pitcher/infielder
Jocelyn Baumeister (Willow Grove, Pa.) were recognized as members of the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Softball Weekly Report for their play of the Griffins final six games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. Smith earned the AEC Softball Player of the Week award with a 7-for-13 (.538) week that included a walk, and produced 5 runs and a sacrifice fly that gave the Red and Gold a 9-1, six-inning victory over the State University of New York (SUNY) Morrisville (Mar. 13). Meanwhile, Baumeister went 1-2 with 22 strikeouts in 19.0 innings; she struck out a dozen (12) Mustangs in her win and held Gwynedd Mercy Universityās opponents to just eight earned runs on 19 hits and four walks.

Opposite Smith, Marywood sophomore Grace Lorah (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was named the AEC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Baumeister was joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Centenary University (N.Y.) senior infielder Madison Passanante (Bloomingdale, N.J.) as well as Immaculata University fifth-years Riece Onorato (Cinnaminson, N.J.) and Jess Oldham (Wilmington, Del.).

Smith is currently tied for the team lead in hits (9), while supplying team-highs in runs scored (8), doubles (2), total bases (11), and stolen bases (1). She was 2-for-3 with a run in a loss to Delaware Valley University (L, 2-7 on Mar. 12) and 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run in a loss to Mitchell College (L, 3-4 on Mar. 12), before going 1-for-2 with a walk, 2 runs, and a run-batted-in (RBI) in the a 9-1 (6) win over SUNY Morrisville. Smith sacrificed home the clincher against the Mustangs with a sixth-inning fly to center field. She also recorded hits in games versus Bridgewater State (1-for-3) and Minn.-Morris (1-for-1).

Baumeister (2-2) followed up her performance against SUNY Morrisville (W, 6.0 IP, 6H, 1ER, 12K) with a strong outing against Bridgewater State University (L, 0-2 on Mar. 14). The Griffin ace held the Bears to two runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out six in the tightly-played pitchersā duel.

Gwynedd Mercy Universityās return home from the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic is marked by a Tuesday, March-18, 3:00 p.m. doubleheader at the MSI Sports Complex opposite Penn State Brandywine.
