Ebling Returns to AEC Baseball Weekly Report, Earns Pitcher of the Week Acclaim

Lancaster, Pa. – (3/12/2024) – Senior utility/pitcher Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) returned to the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Report, this time earning the league’s Pitcher of the Week title. Ebling earned his third win (3-0) of the season with 6.1 innings of work in a 11-1, eight-inning victory over the University of Minnesota Morris (Mar. 9); he struck out eight Cougars while holding them to one unearned run on three hits and a walk. He also went 3-for-4 with a run-batted-in (RBI) in a 9-4 loss to Muhlenberg College (Mar. 10). Ebling was an AEC Weekly Honor Roll mention for the week ending March 3.

The AEC Player of the Week title went to Immaculata University senior third baseman Shawn Haut (New Castle, Del.), while Weekly Honor Roll recognition was given to his teammate, freshman pitcher Alex LePage (Cinnaminson, N.J.), Cabrini University graduate outfielder/pitcher Zack Brook (Mt. Royal, N.J.), Neumann University sophomore infielder Joe Boccio (Coatesville, Pa.), and Centenary University (NJ) graduate outfielder Marty Lucibello (Cresskill, N.J.).

Gwynedd Mercy University (4-4) started their week-long spring trip to Florida with an afternoon contest versus the University of Minnesota Morris (2-3). Junior infielder Ricky Templeton (West Deptford, N.J.) hit the first home run of his Griffin career to tie the game up in the bottom of the second inning (1-1), errors helped the Red and Gold score in the third (3-1), fourth (4-1), and sixth (5-1) before junior left fielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) singled home a run (6-1) and scored (7-1). An RBI single from sophomore right fielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) made it 8-1 soon after and a three-run eighth provided plenty of insurance for Ebling’s victory.

A five-run sixth inning was the downfall of Gwynedd Mercy University, who celebrated the first home run of the season for sophomore center fielder Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.) among their runs in a 9-4 loss to Muhlenberg College (2-3). Nodeland launched his solo shot - the second of his collegiate career - in the fifth inning. The Griffins also got runs on a second-inning single from Ebling, a sixth-inning fielding error by the Mules' third baseman, and an eighth-inning rocket back through the box from junior catcher Justin Smith (Broomall, Pa.).

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their spring trip on Tuesday, March 12, at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida, where they will challenge The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in a 9:45 a.m. contest.
