Clark Joins Marable On AEC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (2/5/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University guards, graduate Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) and junior Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) were recognized on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for their contributions to recent league wins over Centenary University (NJ) (W, 92-65 on Jan. 31) and Cabrini University (W, 75-64 on Feb. 3). Clark averaged 15.5 points (PPG), 6.5 rebounds (RPG), 1.0 assists (APG), and 1.5 steals per game (SPG), while Marable repeated on the Honor Roll with 13.0 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.5 APG, 2.0 blocks per game (BPG), and 1.5 SPG.

Clark and Marable were accompanied on the AEC Weekly Report by Neumann University senior forward Jalen Vaughns (Tobyhanna, Pa.) and freshman guard Jarell Keel (Philadelphia, Pa.), who respectively earned the league’s Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Additional Weekly Honor Roll recognition was given to Marymount University senior guard Marcus Beckett (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Immaculata University freshman guard Dinero Washington (Coatesville, Pa.).

Gwynedd Mercy University (14-8, 7-2) earned their fourth straight AEC victory with Wednesday night's 92-65 victory at Centenary University (N.J.) (2-19, 0-8). The Cyclones held an early 17-10 (13:21) edge, but a 33-13 run earned the Griffins a 43-30 (0:08) halftime advantage before claiming their 27-point league win. Senior guard Aziz Parker (Westampton, N.J.) continued his proficient play with five three pointers (5-of-9, .556) in a 21-point performance that came with nine rebounds, three assists, and a steal. He was well supported in the win; Marable served as a playmaker with 16 points, nine rebounds, a team-high five assists, and a steal, while Clark came off the Red and Gold bench for 17 points, five rebounds, an assist, and two steals against the Cyclones.

Gwynedd Mercy University welcomed Cabrini University (7-15, 3-6) to the Griffin Complex for Saturday's AEC contest. The Griffins overtook the Cavaliers at 20-19 on a jumper from sophomore guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 7:32 remaining in the first half and tightly held the lead for a 33-32 (0:48) halftime advantage. Clark kept the Red and Gold in the lead in the first five minutes of the second half, 43-42 (14:50), but Snead's clutch defense and career-high 15 points served as the true difference maker in a 75-64 triumph; the Griffins’ fifth in a row. Clark finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, an assist, and a steal in a Senior Day start versus the Cavaliers. Meanwhile, Marable contributed renaissance performance with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and two steals.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, February 7, when they visit Immaculata University for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
