Eggers Makes Fifth Straight AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Report, Kesselman Joins on Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (2/5/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) and graduate forward Sydney Kesselman (Philadelphia, Pa.) were selected to the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for their play in the Griffins’ recent 66-64 league win over Centenary University (NJ). The appearance was the fifth straight for the former, who earned three Honor Roll mentions (Jan. 8, Jan. 16, Jan. 29) in January and was named the league’s Player of the Week on January 22. Eggers was also named the AEC Player of the Week on November 27 and earned an additional Weekly Honor Roll recognition on November 20. Meanwhile, Kesselman was previously named to the Weekly Honor Roll on December 4 and earned the AEC Defensive Player of the Week title on November 13.

Eggers and Kesselman were joined on the AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll by Neumann University junior forward Emily DuPont (Malvern, Pa.) and Centenary University junior guard Brie Opdyke (Belvidere, N.J.). The league’s Player of the Week title was given to Marymount University graduate guard Symantha Shackelford (Woodbridge, Va.), while Immaculata University senior guard Tessa Liberatoscioli (Malvern, Pa.) garnered the AEC Defensive Player of the Week title.

After losing nine straight games - and six straight AEC contests - Gwynedd Mercy University (8-13, 1-6) picked up their first conference victory of the season with a 66-64 win at Centenary University (14-6, 3-3). With 11 seconds left in the game and the score all knotted at 64-64 (0:11), Eggers drove baseline and finished off a strong layup for the game-winning bucket. She finished with a team-high 23 points on 6-of-17 (.353) shooting, a game-high four assists, and six rebounds. Kesselman was a factor as well with a dozen (12) points, nine rebounds, an assist, and three blocks.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, February 7, when they visit Immaculata University for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
