Goals Versus Cyclones Collect AEC Weekly Honor Roll Appearance for Yildirim
 
Lancaster, Pa. – (10/30/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior forward Mert Yildirim (Levittown, Pa.) earned his second Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll appearance in the last three weeks after scoring two tallies in the Griffins’ 3-0 league win at Centenary University (NJ) (Oct. 25). Yildirim was joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Marymount University junior midfielder Tony Martinez (Alexandria, Va.), while the AEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week awards were respectively presented to Marywood University freshman forward Jack Forbes (Wassaic, N.Y.) and senior goalkeeper Alex Russo (Sparta, N.J.).
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (4-8-6, 2-3-1) traveled to Centenary University (N.J.) (2-13, 1-5) for their final regular season contest of the 2023 season. There, Yildirim goals at the 13:14 (1-0) and 85:15 (2-0) gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead before freshmen Axel Mayren (Atlantic City, N.J.) and Luke O’Donnell (Glenside, Pa.) connected for a third Red and Gold goal at 89:08 (3-0). Yildirim put three of his team-high four shots on goal. His tallies brought his season total to four and his point total to nine.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University finished their 2023 season on Saturday, October 28, with a 3-0 AEC First Round loss to #3 Marywood University. The Griffins were 4-8-6 overall and 2-3-1 in the AEC.
