Beinlich Joins Ronn on AEC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll
Lancaster, Pa. – (10/17/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University sophomore goalkeeper
Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) made her third straight appearance on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Soccer Weekly Report with her second consecutive Honor Roll mention. She was joined there by sophomore forward
Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) who made her first Weekly Report after scoring the Griffins’ game-winning goal in a 1-0 league triumph over Immaculata University (Oct. 14). Ronn and Beinlich were accompanied on the Weekly Honor Roll by Marymount University juniors, forward Breanna Harkins (Upland, Calif.) and goalkeeper Hannah Mockenhaupt (Fairfax, Va.). Marywood University swept the top weekly honors with junior forward Riley Mulherin (Clarks Summit, Pa.) and sophomore goalkeeper Mila Elash (Carlisle, Pa.) respectively earning the AEC Women’s Soccer Player and Defensive Player of the Week awards.
Nearing the end of the first half, a Marymount University (2-8-4, 1-1-1) foul in the box gave freshman midfielder
Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.) a penalty kick opportunity. She was successful with a beautiful shot past the Saints' goalkeeper that gave Gwynedd Mercy University (7-3-3, 1-0-2) an early 1-0 lead (35:21). Unfortunately, the Saints found an answer in the 84th-minute (83:51) to end the league contest in a 1-1 stalemate. Ronn (1-3-3) was once again brilliant for the Griffins as she totaled 13 saves on 14 Saint shots. Beinlich recorded two shots.
On Saturday (Oct. 14), Gwynedd Mercy University hosted Immaculata University (3-10-1, 0-3-0) for their Senior Day contest. The Griffins were able to celebrate their seniors with a win as Beinlich scored the contest’s lone goal just before the ten-minute mark; 1-0 (9:46). Freshman forward
Ksenia Semenovykh (Warrington, Pa.) placed a beautiful through ball past two Mighty Mac defenders allowing the Griffin captain to put a shot just out of the Immaculata University goalkeeper's hands. Ronn earned the win (2-3-3) with three first-half saves.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, October 18, when they travel to Marywood University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
