Sylvester and Eggers Sweep AEC Weekly Awards After League Wins Over Pacers and Knights  
 
Lancaster, Pa. – (2/13/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University swept the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards with senior Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week (2/13/2023) - Elise Sylvesterguard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) and junior guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, Pa.) respectively winning the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week titles. Sylvester averaged 27.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per contest in league wins over Marywood University (W, 90-71 on Feb. 8) and Neumann University (W, 70-67 on Feb. 11). Meanwhile, Egger’s supported with 17.0 Points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 4.5 steals per game.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (13-10, 6-4) traveled to Marywood University (12-10, 2-8) looking for a season sweep of the Pacers. With a 50-47 halftime edge, the Griffins' turned up their defensive efforts in the second half, holding the Pacers to a 25.8% (8-of-31) shooting performance and winning the turnover battle (1-11) en route to a 90-71 victory. Gwynedd Mercy Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week (2/13/2023) - Lynzie EggersUniversity totaled 17 steals and forced Marywood University into 22 turnover by game’s end. Sylvester and Eggers totaled 24 points apiece; the former added two rebounds, an assist, and four steals, while the latter additionally recorded eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University hosted Neumann University (12-11, 5-5) in a more competitive contest over the weekend as they used a career-high 31 points from Sylvester and another stout defensive performance to secure a 70-67 victory over the Knights. There were just four ties and four lead changes with neither team leading by more than six points in the affair. Sylvester hit three three-point baskets (3-of-4, .750) in an 8-of-16 (.500) shooting performance that came with a perfect 12-of-12 (1.000) effort at the free throw line. She also recorded four rebounds and three steals. Eggers contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and four steals to the win.
