Landon Glovas (Nazareth, Pa.) made his second appearance of the season on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Honor Roll for a pair of strong starts against league rivals, Centenary University (N.J.) (W, 10-2 on Apr. 7) and Marywood University (L, 0-4 on Apr. 11). Glovas was 1-1 on the week as he earned a win (2-0) versus the Cyclones by striking out two while allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks, then took a loss (2-1) against the Pacers despite striking out six while holding them two runs on seven hits and four walks. Overall, he logged eight strikeouts over 14.1 innings of work and held the Griffins' opponents to three earned runs on 11 hits and six walks.
Immaculata University junior infielder J.T. Luther (Ridgewood, N.J.) was named the AEC Baseball Player of the Week, while the AEC Baseball Pitcher of the Week award went to Marywood University senior Danny Tiedemann (Manorville, N.Y.). Glovas was joined on the AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll by Marymount University junior pitcher Ben Smallwood (Fairfax, Va.), Immaculata University junior pitcher Alex LePage (Cinnaminson, N.J.), Marymount University junior outfielder Francis Swekosky (Haymarket, Va.), and Marywood University junior catcher/outfielder Joel Ayers (Severn, Md.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (14-13, 6-6), traveled to Centenary University (8-15, 4-2) for the Tuesday conclusion of their AEC series with the Cyclones. Freshman outfielder
Charlie Neal (Mickleton, N.J.) and Glovas shinned in the rubber match as the former was 3-for-5 with a run and three runs-batted-in (RBI), while the latter earned his second win of the season by holding the home team to one earned run on four hits and two walks; he struck out two over the six-inning (6.0) performance.
In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with Marywood University (18-10, 6-3 AEC), Glovas great again as he held the Pacers to two earned runs on seven hits and four walks. He took his first loss of the season in a 4-0 final, despite striking out six over 8.1 innings.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to Frank O. Genuardi Legends Field on Tuesday, April 14, when the team break from AEC play with a 3:30 p.m. game versus Stockton University.
