Avery Schwartz (Collegeville, Pa.) were recognized as some of the Nation's top student-athletes with their selection to the
2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Academic All-District Softball Team (
.PDF). The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize the Nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) while competing in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests/sets played or starting at least 66 percent of the games/contests/sets.
Baumeister was a 2025 All-AEC Softball First Team selection after ranking first in league for complete games (1st, 15 CG), second in earned run average (2nd, 2.68 ERA), third in wins (3rd, 9), and fourth in innings pitched (4th, 112.2 IP). She also ranked among the league's Top-10 in starts, (5th, 15), shutouts (4th, 1), strikeouts (2nd, 115) and batting average against (2nd, .229). With her career-year in strikeouts, Baumeister finished her collegiate career with a program-record 328. Offensively, Baumeister produced her best offensive year as well with career-highs in hits (36), triples (2), runs-batted-in (24, RBI), batting average (.387 AVG), and slugging percentage (.484 SLG). She had an on-base percentage (OBP) of .396 and stole one base (1-for-4, .250). Additionally, Baumeister appeared on the AEC Softball Weekly Report a career-high six times, earning honor roll mentions March 18, March 25, March 31, April 14, April 21, and April 28.
This is Baumeister third straight CSC Academic All-District Softball Team selection as the Griffin ace also earned recognition in 2023 and 2024. She is a seven-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (F21, S22, F22, S23, F23, S24, F24), a four-time member of the AEC All-Academic Team (2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024), and was inducted to Chi Alpha Sigma; the National College Athlete Honor Society in 2024.
A 2025 All-AEC Second Team selection, Cordero (36gp-36gs) was the everyday center fielder for the Griffins. She finished the season with .343 (37-of-108)/.459/.370 slash line and was Top-10 in the conference for runs (9th, 26), walks (5th, 16), and on base percentage (5th, .469). Cordero appeared in the AEC Weekly Honor Roll on March 31 and recorded her first collegiate triple on April 10 against AEC foe Centenary University (N.J.).
The 2025 captain is a two-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (F21, S22) and a three-time member of the AEC All-Academic Team (2020-2021, 2022-2023, 2023-2024).
While serving her first term as team captain, Smith was the Red and Gold's everyday shortstop. She finished the season with a .333 (35-for-105)/.379/.457 slash line that produced the team third highest RBI total (18) and top run total (35); she also finished fifth on the team in batting average (.333), fourth in hits (35), third in triples (2), second in doubles (6), and first in stolen bases (2-for-2, 1.000). Smith received her first-ever Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Player of the week selection on March 18 after she went 7-for-13 (.538) with a walk, five runs, and an RBI in Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic contests versus Delaware Valley University (L, 2-7 on Mar. 12), Mitchell College (L, 3-4 on Mar. 12), Vermont State University – Castleton (L, 0-7 on Mar. 13), and the State University of New York (SUNY) Morrisville (W, 9-1 (6) on Mar. 13).
Academically, Smith is a two-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (F23, F24) and a two-time member of the AEC All-Academic Team (2022-2023, 2023-2024)
In her first year with the Red and Gold, Cohen was the Griffins' everyday third baseman. She finished the season with a .408 (42-of-103)/.417/.602 slash line that produced a team-high 29 RBI. She also led Gwynedd Mercy University in AVG (1st, .408), hits (1st, 42), doubles (1st, 9), triples (1st, 4), and SLG (1st, .602). Cohen recorded her first hit for the Red and Gold in a March-9 Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic contest against Penn State-Altoona (L, 0-8 (5)) and her first homerun in an April-27 against league rival Neumann University (L, 5-9). She also appeared on the April-21 AEC Softball Weekly Honor Roll after going 9-for-21 (.429) with four RBI in doubleheaders with Eastern University (L, 2-11 (6)/L, 0-4 on Apr. 15) and Immaculata University (L, 5-10/W, 6-3 on Apr. 17).
Cohen was recognized on the Fall 2024 Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite.
Schwartz earned a second straight All-AEC Second Team selection in 2025. She recorded 13 runs and 13 RBI with a .330 (31-for-94)/.370/.436 slash line. She finished second in the AEC triples (2
nd, 3) and garnered an AEC Weekly Honor Roll appearances on April 14 and April 28.
Schwartz is a three-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (F23, S24, F24) and was recognized on the 2023-2024 AEC All-Academic Team.
The Academic All-America program is conducted by the members of the CSC and separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, Second, and Third Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 17, 2025.
