Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (1/31/2022) – Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo is pleased to announce the Griffins' academic accomplishments from the 2021 fall semester and introduce the Athletics Academic Elite honor. "I am extremely proud of our student-athletes here at Gwynedd Mercy University. Even during a time of great strain, our Griffins continue to achieve at the highest levels." He continued, "That is why we are establishing the GMercyU Athletics Academic Elite, which will honor those student-athletes who excel in the classroom each semester." In the semesters that follow, the Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite award will honor those student-athlete who earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. For the fall 2021 semester, the Griffins combined to earn a 3.2 GPA with 27 student-athletes posting individual 4.0's and 88 student-athletes achieving inaugural honors on the Gwynedd Mercy University Academic Elite.
 
The top male team GPA was recorded by the men's tennis team, who combined for a 3.27 GPA. Meanwhile, the top female team GPA belonged to softball and their impressive 3.63 GPA. The softball team reported three 4.0 individual GPA's, while field hockey and men's basketball each offered four student-athletes with a perfect GPA. All but two of the Gwynedd Mercy University's intercollegiate athletic teams earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall of 2021.
