Biography

SENIOR (2021) – Thornton (15gp-13gs) provided a pair of assists and finished her senior season with two points in excess of 10 shots and a defensive save. Her first assist came on a game-tying goal (1-1, 23:29; Avellino) in the Griffins’ 2-1 victory over Arcadia University on October 6, while the second initiated an insurance goal (3-1, 43:07; Jani) in the 3-2 victory over Marywood University on October 12. Thornton was Gwynedd Mercy University’s primary penalty corner inserter, serving 60 of the Griffins’ 95 corner restarts. She finished her collegiate career with five goals, five assists, 15 points, 37 shots, two game-winning goals, and a defensive save.

GRADUATE (2022) - Thornton (17gp-17gs) enjoyed the best season of her collegiate career as she led the Griffins in points (23) with seven goals and a team-high nine assists. She totaled 27 shots and a team-high 96 corners. Her first AEC Offensive Player of the Week award came on October 31 after recording her first hat trick of the season in the Griffins’ 12-0 win over Bryn Athyn College (Sept. 24). She also recorded an assist to total seven points in the game. Thornton repeated the feat in the Griffins’ 6-0 league victory over Manhattanville College (Oct. 25). She was also a two-time AEC Weekly Honor Roll mention (Sept. 6, Sept. 26) and scored a goal in the AEC Quarterfinal stroke-off against Immaculata University (L, 0-1 on Oct. 29); she was one of three Griffins to do so.
