Double-Double Versus Bison Draws Eagan AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Roll Recognition
Lancaster, Pa. – (12/23/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior forward Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season – 10 points, 12 rebounds – in a recent 84-60 loss to Gallaudet University (Dec. 17) to garner recognition on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. The Red and Gold captain hit all four of her field goals (4-of-13, .308) from long range (4-of-11, .364) made three steals, while leading the Griffins on the glass.
Immaculata University senior guard Reese Mullins (Hockessin, Del.) was named the AEC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Neumann University senior forward Lauren Klieber (Malvern, Pa.) garnered the Defensive Player of the Week honor. Eagan was joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Marywood University senior guard Olivia Ciullo (Old Forge, Pa.), Neumann University senior forward Emily DuPont (Malvern, Pa.), and Immaculata University freshman forward Carly Coleman (Springfield, Pa.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (4-8) hosted Gallaudet University (4-8) for their final game of 2024. Sophomore guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) hit a pair of late three pointers (0:46, 0:21), but the Bison score the last basket of the first quarter to own a 23-20 (0:03) lead. Eagan kept the Griffins hot from long range in the second quarter with three from downtown (4:16, 2:58, 1:20) helping Gwynedd Mercy University stay Gallaudet University’s heals headed to halftime; 46-41 (0:01). Unfortunately, the second half did not go well for the Griffins who went 7-of-30 (.233) from the field and lost pace with the Bison behind a 26-15 rebounding deficit.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action in 2025 as they host Nazareth University for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off on Friday, January 3.
