Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll: Kate Etter, P.J. Mendoza
Lancaster, Pa. – (9/14/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior pin hitter Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) and sophomore defensive specialist P.J. Mendoza (Kennett Square, Pa.) returned to the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Volleyball Weekly Report with Honor Roll appearances. Etter totaled 28.0 points (23 kills, 4 aces, 2 block assists), three assists, and 22 digs, while Mendoza recorded a kill, five assists, an ace, and 28 digs in a three-match week that included the Griffin home opener versus Cairn University (L, 0-3; 2-25, 15-25, 21-25 on Sept. 9) and the season's first tri-match, with Lycoming College (L, 0-3; 23-25, 13-25, 16-25 on Sept. 12), at Marywood University (L, 0-3; 22-25, 16-25, 21-25 on Sept. 12).
 
Etter and Mendoza were joined on the AEC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll by Pratt Institute freshman setter/opposite Emma Hwang (Dallas, Texas), as well as Immaculata University sophomore defensive specialist Adrianna Ventura (Williamstown, N.J.) and Marymount University middle hitter Elizabeth Stackpole (Occoquan, Va.). The AEC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week award went to Pratt Institute senior outside hitter/middle hitter Colleen Russell (Asbury, N.J.), while the AEC Women's Volleyball Specialty Player of the Week went to Marymount University senior setter Emerson Aber (Cumming, Ga.).
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (0-6) owned a 16-10 advantage over Cairn University (3-0) in the opening set, but a Highlander run reversed fortunes and spurred the visitors for a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-15) victory in Wednesday night's home opener. Etter led the Red and Gold offensively with 9.0 points (8 kills, 1 ace), while sophomores Macie Ferla (Mickleton, N.J.) and Brynn Crooks (Philadelphia, Pa.) headlined the defensive efforts with nine digs apiece.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University traveled to their former conference rival Marywood University (7-0) for Saturday's tri-match with Lycoming College (2-4). The Griffins lost to the hosting Pacers - 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-16) - in the first match of the day and the Warriors – 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-16) - in the second. Etter stood out in the first match with 12.5 points (10 kills, 2 aces, 1 block assist), while the Red and Gold were active at the net in the second match with 5.0 team blocks (2 solo blocks, 6 block assists). Mendoza hustled to a team-high 11 digs, while recording a kill and an assist.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action next Saturday, September 19, when they travel to Bryn Mawr College for a tri-match with the Owls (11:00 a.m.) and Elmira College (1:00 p.m.).
