Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – (9/4/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (0-3) traveled up the Northeast Extension for tonight's tri-match with Penn State Schuylkill (1-0) and host, King's College (PA) (1-1). The Griffins faced the Monarchs in the opening match of the event and battled them to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-11) loss. Against the Nittany Lions, a 25-19 Red and Gold win in the second set evened the match (1-1) before an unfortunate 3-1 (29-27, 19-25, 33-31, 25-13) conclusion. Senior pin hitter Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) totaled 26.5 points between the two matches; she scored 12.0 points (11 kills, 1 solo block) and made 10 digs versus King's College, then recorded 14.5 points (14 kills, 1 block assist) versus Penn State Schuylkill.

Griffin Highlights vs. King's College (PA)

  • Her play at the net was fueled by the performance of sophomore setter Macie Ferla (Mickleton, N.J.), who offered 13 assists and eight digs.
  • Etter's hustle on defense was complemented by sophomore defensive specialist P.J. Mendoza (Kennett Square, Pa.). She totaled a dozen digs while also recording two assists and an ace.
Griffin Highlights vs. Penn State Schuylkill
  • The Red and Gold's senior captain played even better in the second match as she paired her 14.5 points with 20 digs. And, she did so with more efficiency too as she powered the Griffin effort with an impressive .225 hitting percentage (14K-5E-40TA).
  • Junior middle hitter Emma Hastings (Collingswood, N.J.) played a supporting role in the match; she finished with 12.5 points with nine kills, an ace, two solo blocks, and a block assist.

  • Mendoza was a factor as well with three of the Griffins' seven aces and a team-high 33 digs.
