Joe Oriold (Southampton, Pa.) earned a spot on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll with four ground balls and five caused turnovers in a 12-5 loss to league rival Immaculata University (Apr. 11).
The AEC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week awards were swept by Immaculata University as sophomore attack Jason Smaron (Philadelphia, Pa.) and his teammate senior goalkeeper Matthew Ludlow (Willow Grove, Pa.) won the respective honors. Oriold was joined on the AEC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll by Marywood University sophomore face-off/midfielder Luke Ament (Nazareth, Pa.) as well as Marymount University senior midfielder Ian Fructoso (Fairfax, Va.) and sophomore face-off Winston Horshaw II (Harrisburg, Pa.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (6-5, 1-1) out-efforted Immaculata University (10-4, 2-1) on ground balls (38-32) and face-offs (15-5), but the Mighty Macs made more use of their possessions in a 12-5 AEC, Saturday afternoon final. Freshman midfielder
Cooper Lachowicz (Toms River, N.J.) finished with a team-high two goals on six shots while recovering two ground balls and causing a turnover. Oriold captained the Red and Gold's defensive effort against Immaculata University with his four ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Saturday, April 18, when they host Neumann University for a 12:00 p.m. AEC Senior Day affair.
