Jimmy DeCarlo (Ridley Park, Pa.) earned his third appearance on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Honor Roll with an 8-for-18 (.444) week that came with a walk, two runs, and eight runs-batted-in (RBI). DeCarlo's week was highlighted by his performance in the Griffins 17-3, game-one victory over league-rival Immaculata University (Mar. 28); he went 3-for-5 with a walk, a run, and 5 RBI.
The AEC Baseball Player of the Week award went to Centenary University (N.J.) sophomore catcher Cole Schulberg (Skillman, N.J.), while the AEC Baseball Pitcher of the Week award went to Marymount University junior Ben Smallwood (Fairfax, Va.). DeCarlo was joined on the AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll by Neumann University junior infielder Anthony Rakotz (Vineland, N.J.), Marywood University junior outfielder Cam Bott (Lusby, Md.), Marymount University sophomore infielder Seth Sadler (Chesapeake, Va.), and Immaculata University sophomore infielder/pitcher Stephen Devanney (Pitman, N.J.).

Karl Wissman (Cinnaminson, N.J.) the Red and Gold tied the game at 6-6. Unfortunately, a bases-loaded beanball plated the Sea Gulls' winning run in their final at-bat. DeCarlo brought home a run in the third inning (2-1) with a bases-loaded single to third base. He was also hit by a pitch in the seventh inning and drew a walk in the ninth.
Gwynedd Mercy University welcomed AEC rival Immaculata University (6-12, 3-3) to Frank O. Genuardi Legends Field to kickstart their three-game series. With some small ball from the Mighty Macs and some errors from the Red and Gold, the Mighty Macs took game one by a 6-2 final. Gwynedd Mercy was held to just six hits in the contest, with three of them being recorded in the final three innings. Junior pitcher
Michael Inglisa (Delran, N.J.) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out six in the loss (2-2). DeCarlo singled home a pair of runs in the seventh inning (3-2) with a double down the left field line. He also doubled with two out in the ninth inning to finish the game 2-for-5.
The Griffins' bats awoke in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Immaculata University as the Red and Gold produced 17 runs on 13 hits. DeCarlo went 3-for-5 with a walk and five RBI. He doubled home a pair of runs in the second inning (3-0) and unloaded the bases in the sixth inning (13-3) with a single to left center. His first hit was a first-inning single to right field. In game two, Gwynedd Mercy University was unable to capitalize on their momentum as the Mighty Macs took the rubber match 7-1. DeCarlo was 2-for-5, but he was on-base three times as he singled in the third inning, reached on an error in the fifth, and singled in the seventh.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Frank O. Genuardi Legends Field on Tuesday, March 31, when they welcome Cairn University for 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
