Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) brought the Mighty Macs' 9-0 first-quarter run a close; 9-1 (1:20, 1QTR). A 6-1 second-quarter spread only pushed the contest further from the Griffins' grasp (15-2), before the heart of the Red and Gold showed in a 20-9 final. Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) (10:45 & 8:39, 4QTR) each netted multiple goals Gwynedd Mercy University's 7-5 second-half rally. The effort also owed much to a 20-save performance from senior goalkeeper
Jared Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) and an 8-of-14 (.571) second-half performance in the face-off circle.
At season's end, five Griffins were recognized on the All-AEC Men's Lacrosse Team with the younger Devine earning his second straight All-AEC First Team recognition and his older brother garnering his second straight All-AEC Second Team selection alongside Kish, Seaman, and junior defenseman
Dylan Gazda (Pottstown, Pa.). Kish finishes his collegiate career as a three-time All-AEC performer as he was named to the All-AEC First Team in 2023 and 2024. Like the elder Devine, Seaman and Gazda were also an All-AEC Second Team performers in 2024.
Josh Devine led Gwynedd Mercy University in points with 51 (32 goals, 19 assists); he tied for league's 11th-best goal total (11
th, 32) and tied for the league's sixth-best assist total (6
th, 19). He also ranked first in the league for shots (1
st, 174) and 11
th in the league for ground balls (11
th, 52). The junior attack also scored four man-up goals over the course of the season and he logged a program-record 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in a 20-11 victory over AEC rival Neumann University (Apr. 12).
Seaman and Kish both celebrated century scores this season as the former recorded his in the second quarter of the regular season finale versus Marymount University (8-2, 10:36, 2QTR) and the latter logged his 100th goal in the Griffins' AEC Semifinal appearance (9-1, 1:20, 1QTR @ #1 Immaculata University on Apr. 26). Seaman finished the season with 49 points (36 goals, 13 assists), 34 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers. Meanwhile, Kish totaled 47 points (33 goals, 14 assists), 30 ground balls, and 10 caused turnovers.
After battling back from an early-season injury, Gazda impressed opposing league head coaches with four ground balls and four caused turnovers in five conference games. The elder Devine was a regular on the AEC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll and finished his Red and Gold career with a program-record 501 saves. He earned his 6-10 record with a league-high 233 saves; offering a .550 save percentage (SV%) and a 12.91 goals against average (GAA).
Gwynedd Mercy University opened the 2025 season with a back-to-back road loss at McDaniel College (L, 3-15 on Feb. 15) and Albright College (L, 10-15 on Feb. 19). Jared Devine surpassed 300 career saves with his 17
th save of a 25-save performance versus the Lions. The Red and Gold had the last word against the Warriors thanks to a connection from junior attack
Nick Citrigno (Southampton, Pa.) and senior attack
Dominic Romania (Phoenixville, Pa.) that served as the deciding tally with 3:16 remaining. The contest was tied at 4-4 (0:36) after the first quarter and 6-6 (1:11) at halftime. The Red and Gold took an 8-7 (1:55) lead into the fourth quarter thanks to a man-up goal from Devine, but still needed scores from Kish (9-8, 9:33), freshman attack
David Crespo (Furlong, Pa.) (10-8, 8:22), and Romania (11-10, 3:16) to run Lycoming College out the GMercyU Athletic Complex.
Unfortunately, the Griffins would not see another win until March 12 as the win over the Warriors was followed by consecutive losses to Drew University (L, 6-17 on Feb. 26), Arcadia University (L, 7-23 on Mar. 1), Widener University (L, 6-13 on Mar. 5), and Nichols College (L, 10-17 on Mar. 8). A
Josh Devine AEC Weekly Honor Roll mention on March 3 was the highlight of the stretch; he totaled eight points (5 goal, 3 assists), 22 shots, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers in his starts versus Rangers and Knights.
The Red and Gold recovered with four straight victories, righting themselves to 5-6 on the season with wins over Delaware Valley University (W, 12-2 on Mar. 12), Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) (W, 13-9 on Mar. 15), Cairn University (W, 21-3 on Mar. 22), and AEC rival Centenary University (N.J.) (W, 29-4 on Apr. 4). The stretch included AEC Player of the Week honors for Kish (Mar. 18), Seaman (Mar. 25), and Crespo (Apr. 7), as well as AEC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for sophomore long stick midfielder
Bryce Gaffney (Turnersville, N.J.) (Mar. 25) and junior faceoff
Jake Tedeschi (Goshen, N.Y.) (Apr. 7), and an AEC Weekly Honor Roll mention for
Jared Devine (Mar. 18). Devine recorded his 400
th career save with his sixth stop (7:18, 2QTR) against the Aggies and became the Griffins all-time leader (402) with his final save (1:06, 3QTR) of the affair. Meanwhile, against the Cyclones, Crespo set the program single-game points record (10 points; 6 goals, 4 assists) and Gwynedd Mercy University established the program single-game team records in goals (29), assists (17), and points (46).
The Griffins' 2025 AEC schedule finished out with a lopsided victory at Neumann University (W, 20-11) and losses to Immaculata University (L, 7-13 on April 9), Marywood University (L, 5-10 on Apr. 16), and Marymount University (L, 5-17 on Apr. 23). Crespo scored the first two Gwynedd Mercy University goals (13:00, 11:27, 1QTR) against the Knights, but it was
Josh Devine who recorded 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in the AEC victory. He and his brother, Jared, earned AEC Weekly Honor Roll recognition on the final two reports of the year (Apr. 14, Apr. 21).
