Mission.
Founded in 2018, The Danica Strong Foundation is a non-profit organization in Levittown, Pennsylvania, that provides financial support to families with children battling brain cancer. Prior to the 2023 holiday season, the Gwynedd Mercy University men's and women's lacrosse team partnered with The Danica Strong Foundation for their inaugural
toy drive.
Danica was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (SHH and TP53 mutation) brain cancer at the age of eight. Following surgery, proton radiation, chemotherapy, and stem cell transplants, she was in remission until June 2020, when an unfortunate MRI revealed the cancer's return. A second round of treatments began in July 2020, but Danica's fight came to a tragic end February of 2022.
The Danica Strong Foundation understands the emotional and financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis. That's why they are committed to providing financial assistance to families, so they can access the best medical care and focus on their children. The emotional, physical, and financial stress combined could hurt a family just trying to make the right decisions. Between doctor's appointments, scheduling medicine, treatments, hospital stays, emergency room visits, and decisions on what plan would cure your child, families should not have to decide whether to pay your mortgage or the utility bills this month.
