Lancaster, Pa. – (5/4/2022) – Following Marywood University's championship run, Commissioner Jessica Huntley has officially

released
2022 All-Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Tennis Team and Major Award Winners. The Pacers swept the major awards as junior Allison Bashore (Bernville, Pa.) was named the AEC Player of the Year, freshman Gabriella Nowak (Long Valley, N.J.) was named the AEC Rookie of the Year, and Dana Ciccotti and her staff garnered the AEC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Gwynedd Mercy University (4-6, 2-3) placed four Griffins on the All-AEC roster. The Griffin duos of sophomore
Avamarie Backich (Southampton, Pa.) and senior
Jen Eisemann (Langhorne, Pa.), and sophomore
Casey Meenan (Perkasie, Pa.) and sophomore
Moira Ryan (King of Prussia, Pa.) garnered Second Team Doubles honors. Meanwhile, Meenan and Backich were both selected as All-AEC Second Team Singles performers.
The All-AEC First Team Doubles duos included Marywood University combinations of Bashore and Nowak, and sophomore Faith

Kendricks (Blakely, Pa.) and junior Karah Laboranti (Olyphant, Pa.), as well as Immaculata University's junior Annamarie Degnan (Glen Mills, Pa.) and freshman Pamela Kontaras (Broomall, Pa.). Meanwhile, the All-AEC First Team Singles selections included Bashore, Nowak, Degnan, her teammate senior Jessica Dougherty (Broomall, Pa.), Marymount University junior Caroline Haymans (Great Falls, Va.), and Neumann University sophomore Hannah Asaka (Upper Darby, Pa.).
In addition to Backich/Eismann and Meenan/Ryan, the All-AEC Second Team Doubles included Immaculata University's duo of Dougherty and senior Kelly O'Brien (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.). Meanwhile, Backich and Meenan's All-AEC Second Team Singles selections were accompanied by recognition for Marywood University's Kendricks, Immaculata University's O'Brien and Kontaras, and Neumann University's sophomore Kylie Seeger (Glenolden, Pa.) and freshman Kaitlyn Smith (Wilmington, Del.).

Bashore finished her 2021-2022 slate with a 9-6 record at number one singles and 0-1 at number two singles. She went 5-0 in AEC play. Meanwhile, she posted a 10-7 doubles record that included a 10-6 number one doubles record with Nowak. Nowak was 9-3 at number two singles and 2-1 at number three singles, finishing the season with an 8-0 run that included a 5-0 record versus AEC opponents.
Ciccotti and her staff governed Marywood University to an 11-7 overall record and a 5-0 AEC regular season. The Pacers only surrendered three points to their league opponents, including a pair of points to Immaculata University (W, 7-2 on April 6) and Gwynedd Mercy University (W, 8-1 on April 20); Backich scored the point for the Griffins with her 6-4, 6-0, win at number six singles.
Meenan and Ryan sported a 3-5 number one doubles record; the former was 5-6 overall in doubles play. Meanwhile, Backich and

Eisemann teamed for a 3-2 record at number two doubles; overall, Backich was 4-4 between the second (3-2) and third (1-2) flights, while Eisemann was 5-5 between the first (0-1) and second (5-4) flights. Meenan's 5-4 number one singles record included 3-1 record versus AEC opponents, while Backich's 7-1 singles record included a 4-0 run in the fourth flight and a 2-0 run in the sixth flight. She was 5-0 against AEC opponents.
