Greenwood, Ind. – (11/16/2022) – Gwynedd Mercy University provided three student-athletes to the recently released 2022 College Sports Communicators (CSC) DII Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team (.PDF). Graduate defenseman Kevin Hanuscin (Langhorne, Pa.), and seniors; forward Evan Kirby (Bensalem, Pa.) and goalkeeper/forward John Wagner (Phoenixville, Pa.) were among those recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
Hanuscin and Kirby took on captain duties for Gwynedd Mercy University's 2022 season. The former recorded an assist and 12 shots while starting 17 of the Griffins' 18 contests. He is a two-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (Fall 2021, Spring 2022), a four-time member of the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) All-Academic Team (2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022), and was inducted to Chi Alpha Sigma; the National College Athlete Honor Society in spring of 2022.
 
Meanwhile, the latter totaled four points (1 goal, 2 assists), 26 shots, and four corners while starting all 17 of the contests he appeared in. Kirby is also a two-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (Fall 2021, Spring 2022), and a three-time member of the AEC All-Academic Team (2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021).
 
Wagner (0-11-1) led the AEC is saves (86) and saves per game (6.62) despite only making 13 appearances in goal. He offered a .394 goals-against average (GAA) and made 86 saves on a .683 save percentage. Like Kirby, Wagner is a two-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (Fall 2021, Spring 2022) and a three-time member of the AEC All-Academic Team (2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022).
 
The Academic All-America program is conducted by the members of the CSC and separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, Second, and Third Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
