GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Immaculata defeated Gwynedd Mercy, 6-3, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match Wednesday afternoon.
First-year player
Josh Reimel teamed up with
Brian Irwin to win a gutsy #1 doubles match that went down to the wire. At one point, the duo was down by three games, but managed to claw their way back and win a thriller in a tiebreak.Â
Irwin held on for another gritty win that went the distance, winning in a long full three sets at #1 singles. Rookie
Adam Chau, also grinded it out in a very tough three-set victory at #3 singles.
"While there is still much that we have to work on, overall I was very pleased to see the grit and determination that are players put forth today. Special kudos to Adam considering he barely has any college experience as a freshman," states head coach
Jim Holt.
The Griffins (0-3, 0-2 CSAC) host Neumann here on Friday, tentatively scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
