GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Tennis Team finally got their 2016 off the ground with a 9-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference victory over Cairn on Saturday.

Gwynedd Mercy was slated to open the season on September 1st, but their match at Kean was postponed.

Nicole Picciolo, Amanda Goff, and Natalie Danze all did not drop a game in their straight-set wins in singles. Rookie Jenna Trythall played up to the standards of the coaching staff, which quite frankly has very high standards after so many years of success. "She has fire and knows that what we preach. Once she truly buys in to what we are teaching, this young lady has a phenomenal attitude and wil improve", says head coach Jim Holt.

The Griffins (1-0, 1-0 CSAC) resume action on Tuesday, when they head to Rosemont for a CSAC match starting a 4 p.m.
