PHILADELPHIA -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Tennis Team captured their seventh Colonial States Athletic Conference Team Tournament Championship and second in a row with a convincing 5-0 win over Marywood Saturday afternoon at the Legacy Tennis Center in Philadelphia.

The Griffins (17-1), who were making their tenth-straight appearance in the final, claim the CSAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Team Tournament which takes place in May of 2016.

In the best of nine format, where the winning team is the first to five wins, Gwynedd made quick work at doubles, sweeping all three matches for a 3-0 lead. Needing just two wins at singles to lock up the title, a pair of freshmen obliged with solid wins. Katie Garthaus, the 2015 CSAC Player and Rookie of the Year, took care of business with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2 singles over Marywood's Abygail Doud. Needing one more victory, Natalie Danze sealed it as she finished off Melanie Kobela, 6-0, 6-1.
