As the 2009 and 2011 CSAC Runner of the Year, Katherine (Klinges) Bates earned National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) DIII Mideast All-Region Team selections in 2009 and 2011. Her 2011 CSAC Championship finish earned her an individual title (2011, 1st, 20:41), while a second-place finish in 2009 (2nd, 19:48) helped Gwynedd Mercy University to the CSAC team title. Klinges’ 2008 (5th, 20:42) and 2010 (2nd, 18:49) finishes earned her two additional All-CSAC First Team honors. As a member of the Gwynedd Mercy University indoor and outdoor women’s track and field teams, she is responsible for program records in the indoor 5,000-Meter (1st, 18:43.54, Mason Dixon Championships, Feb 19, 2012) and Distance Medley Relay (18th, 12:44.15, ECAC Championships, Mar. 4, 2011), as well as the outdoor 10,000-Meter (3rd, 38:40.75, Danny Curran Invitational, Mar. 30, 2012). Klinges also earned an All-ECAC honor. Academically, the nursing major was a 2009 and 2011 United States Track and Field Cross and Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic All-American with CSAC All-Academic Team honors in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She was named to the PhillySIDA/Philadelphia Inquirer Women’s Cross Country Academic All-Area team as a senior (2011) and was named the 2012 Gwynedd Mercy University Female Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. In 2018, Klinges was named to the CSAC 25th Anniversary Women’s Cross Country Team.
