In just three seasons with the Gwynedd Mercy University men’s basketball program, Dave Smith forged a legacy with Top-10 all-time rankings in points per game (7^th, 13.4), field goals made (8^th, 446), field goal percentage (2^nd, .596), rebounds (5^th, 575), rebounds per game (4^th, 7.7), blocks (3^rd, 158), and blocks per game (2^nd, 2.1). He finished his collegiate career with 1,008 points (16^th all-time) and was named the 2009 Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Senior Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Smith’s stellar senior season (2008-2009) saw the Griffin forward earn the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year title and additional recognition on the All-PAC First Team, the D3Hoops.com All-Region First Team, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team, and the ECAC DIII All-Star Team, while leading the Griffins to the PAC Championship with Tournament MVP honors. Smith earned an All-PAC Second Team selection in 2007-2008 and an Honorable Mention in 2006-2007. Academically, the education major was a member of the 2008-2009 NABC Academic Honors Court and the 2008-2009 CSAC All-Academic Team. In 2018, Smith was named to the CSAC 25^th Anniversary Men’s Basketball Team.
