Performance Versus Patriots Places Gordon on AEC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) was named to the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll for recording a goal (3-0, 47:09) and an assist (Bradley; 4-0, 58:11) in Gwynedd Mercy University’s 4-0 season-opening win at the University of Valley Forge. The first AEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honor of the season went to Marywood University senior midfielder Carly Walters (Springfield, Pa.), while the AEC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week went to Marymount University sophomore goalkeeper Mara Dufour (Ashburn, Va.). Gordon was joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Marymount University sophomore forward/midfielder Nicole Alvarado (Stafford, Va.), Immaculata University senior goalkeeper Emily Guthier (Sewell, N.J.), and Marywood University graduate defender Britlyn Higgins (Fort Worth, Texas).
Gwynedd Mercy University (1-0) wasted no time in finding the back of the net at the University of Valley Forge (0-1) as junior midfielder
Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.) scored the first goal of the season just 34 seconds into affair; 1-0 (0:34). The Red and Gold made the difference 2-0 by halftime with a goal from sophomore midfielder
Olivia Crawford (Rockledge, Pa.) in the 30
th minute (2-0, 29:03). Gordon made sure the Griffins stayed ahead of the Patriots in the second half as she scored a goal just past the 47-minute mark (3-0, 47:09) and assisted senior forward
Kira Bradley (Langhorne, Pa.) on her first goal with Gwynedd Mercy University just past the 58
th minute (4-0, 58:11). Gordon totaled three shots in the contest and put two of them on goal.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their early-season road schedule on Wednesday, September 3, when they visit Penn State Abington for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
