Beinlich and Gablein Draw AEC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

Lancaster, Pa. – (9/9/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior forward Bethany Beinlich (Forskville, Pa.) and junior goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) drew recognition on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll for their role in the Griffins’ ties with Cairn University (T, 2-2 on Sept. 4) and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (T, 0-0 on Sept. 7). Beinlich scored the second Red and Gold goal (2-1, 55:10) of the tie with the Highlanders, while Gablein collected a pair of ties (1-0-2) and 17 saves between the two contests.

Neumann University freshman midfielder Julianna Hatt (Coatesville, Pa.) was recognized as the AEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, while the Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Marywood University fifth-year defender Britlyn Higgins (Fort Worth, Texas). Beinlich and Gablein were joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Pratt Institute of Technology sophomore midfielder Emma Pratt (North Attleboro, Mass.), Marywood University junior midfielder Caroline Waters (Springfield, Pa.), Immaculata University senior midfielder Rachel McNamee (Honey Brook, Pa.) and junior goalkeeper Emily Guthier (Sewell, N.J.), as well as Marymount University freshman forward Marissa Tonic (East Setauket, N.Y.) and senior goalkeeper Hannah Mockenhaupt (Fairfax, Va.).

Gwynedd Mercy University (1-0-2) hit the road for the first time in 2024, traveling to Cairn University (0-0-1) for Wednesday’s contest. A beautiful 20-yard shot from sophomore forward Demmi Fox (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) was perfectly placed over the Highlanders goalkeeper's hands and put the Griffins up 1-0 (5:59) early in the first quarter. In the second half, sophomore midfielder Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.) served a perfect restart in the middle of the box for Beinlich’s first tally of the season (2-1, 55:10). Beinlich finished with two shots, while Gablein recorded six saves in the draw.

Gwynedd Mercy University welcomed the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg to the Athletic Complex on Saturday. A steady downpour played a role in the contest, but Gablein stood tall in net with a season-high 11 saves preserving the Griffins’ second stalemate of the week.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues its homestand at the Athletic Complex to take on Rosemont College on Wednesday, September 11 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
