Eggers Extends Stay AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Report with Honor Roll Recognition

Lancaster, Pa. – (1/29/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) appeared on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report for the fourth straight week as she earned Honor Roll recognition on the last report of January. Eggers continued her high-scoring pursuits, averaging 24.0 points per game (PPG) while recording five rebounds, two assists, and a steal in league losses to Marywood University (L, 69-79 on Jan. 24) and Neumann University (L, 64-69 on Jan. 27).

Eggers was joined on the AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Report by Neumann University junior forward Emily DuPont (Malvern, Pa.) and Marymount University senior guard Chandler Eddleton (Richmond, Va.), who respectively earned the Player and Defensive Player of the Week titles.

Gwynedd Mercy University (7-13, 0-6) hosted Marywood University (8-10, 2-3) in Wednesday (Jan. 24) night’s AEC contest. After being down five points at the half, 36-31 (0:43), the Griffins cut the Pacers’ lead to just a single point, 53-52 (0:27), heading to the final frame. There, a 26-17 spread denied the Red and Gold’s final rallies. Eggers played a team-high 37 minutes in the contest, finishing 10-of-23 (.435) from the field and 1-of-2 (.500) at the free throw line for 23 points. She also recorded two offensive rebounds and an assist.

The Griffins took to the locker room with a 35-26 halftime lead over Neumann University (14-7, 3-3), but were unable to maintain their 46.7% (14-of-30) shooting rate in a 43-29 second half that left them five points behind the Knights in a 69-64 (0:03) conclusion. Eggers finished with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-17 (.529) shooting. She also recorded three rebounds, one assist, and a steal.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, January 31, when they visit Centenary University (N.J.) for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
