Lancaster, Pa. – (1/8/2024) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior guards
Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) and

Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Griffins during a 0-2 week versus Neumann University (L, 60-63 on Jan. 3) and Gallaudet University (L, 73-77 on Jan. 6). Eggers averaged 12.5 points (PPG), 5.0 rebounds (RPG), 2.5 assists (APG), and 1.5 steals per game (SPG), while Marinacci provided the Red and Gold with 10.0 PPG, 5.5 ASP, three rebounds, and nine steals.
Centenary University (NJ) freshman forward Vatijah Davis (Poconos, Pa.) and Immaculata University senior guard Tessa Liberatoscioli (Malvern, Pa.) were respectively named the AEC Women’s Basketball Player and Defensive Player of the Week, while additional Weekly Honor Roll recognition was given to Marymount University senior guard Terra Dzambo (Glen Burnie, Md.), Neumann University junior forward Lauren Klieber (Malvern, Pa.), and Immaculata University junior forward Abigail Lentowski (Covington Township, Pa.).
With the start of the New Year, Gwynedd Mercy University (7-8, 0-1) hosted Neumann University (11-4, 1-0) for Saturday’s Atlantic East Conference (AEC) season opener. The Griffins outscored the Knights 27-16 in the final ten minutes of the contest, but a 47-33 (0:10) third quarter deficit was too much to overcome in a close 63-60 conclusion. Senior guard
Ava Casale (Washington Township, N.J.) finished with a team-high 17 points, two rebounds, and two steals. Eggers totaled 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal against the Knights, while Marinacci offered 11 points, two rebounds, six assists, and five steals to the effort.
For the first time in program history, Gwynedd Mercy University traveled to Washington, D.C., for Saturday’s non-conference contest at Gallaudet University (8-6). The Griffins tailed by two points, 75-73 (1:04), with a minute to play in the game. Unfortunately, a failed inbound pass kept the Bison in the lead and gave the home team the ball for a pair of closing free throws in a 77-73 (0:10) final. Eggers finished with a team-high 18 points, while recording six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Marinacci matched her career and season-highs with a dozen (12) points; she also recorded a rebound, five assists, and four steals.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Griffin Complex on Wednesday, January 10, when they resume their AEC schedule with a 6:00 p.m. tip-off versus Centenary University (NJ).
