Lancaster, Pa. – (11/27/2023) – Graduate guard
Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) finished Gwynedd Mercy University’s recent 76-68 loss to Delaware Valley University with a team-highs in points (14) and rebounds (10) to record his third career double-double and earn a spot on the
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. For the second week in a row, Neumann University senior forward Jalen Vaughns (Tobyhanna, Pa.) and Immaculata University graduate forward Tyler Tillery (Baltimore, Md.) respectively garnered the AEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Clark was joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Neumann University junior guard T.J. Lewis (Parkesburg, Pa.), Cabrini University junior guard Donoven Mack (New Castle, Del.), and Marymount University senior guard Marcus Stubbs (Boyds, Md.).
Gwynedd Mercy University (2-3) welcomed Delaware Valley University (3-2) to the Griffin Complex for Tuesday (Nov. 21) night's pre-Thanksgiving tip-off. A high-energy game saw the Red and Gold pace Delaware Valley University to a 15-15 (14:35) stalemate and trail them to a 25-25 (7:36) tie before a 13-0 Aggie run distanced the visitors for their double-digit halftime advantage. In the second half, Delaware Valley University gradually improved their lead to 14 points, 66-52, with 5:36 left to play. Finished by Clark, a late Gwynedd Mercy University push reduced the Aggie lead to four points, 68-64 (2:07), but no further as a three-point play (71-64, 1:40) and closing free throws kept the game just out of the Griffins' reach.
Clark's six points led a very balanced first half as 10 different Griffins scored in the opening period. He finished the contest with 14 points and hit all of his free throws (6-of-6; 1.000) while also recording two assists and two steals.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Wednesday, November 29, when they host Salisbury University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
