Gablein Garners Second AEC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
 
Lancaster, Pa. – (10/30/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) made her third appearance of the season on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Soccer Weekly Report and collected her second Defensive Player of the Week honor with a dozen (12) saves in the Griffins’ 0-0 tie at Centenary University (NJ) (Oct. 28). The AEC Player of the Week was presented to Marywood University senior midfielder Josephine Sorce (Monroe, N.Y.), while Honor Roll appearances were permitted to Cabrini University senior defender Rebekah Cunningham (Havertown, Pa.) and junior goalkeeper Caroline Hassall (Norristown, Pa.).
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (8-4-5, 1-1-4) hosted Centenary University (N.J.) (5-8-2, 2-3-1) on Wednesday, October 25, for their final AEC and regular season contest of 2023. Both teams had golden opportunities to find the back of the net but were unable to capitalize by the end of regulation. Gablein was a major factor in the decision with 12 saves to offset the Cyclones 20-14 shot advantage. She finished the regular season with a 3-0-1 record and 36 saves on a .900 save percentage and a 0.80 goals-against average (GAA).
 
After a 4-3 shoot out win in the First Round of the AEC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament, #6 Gwynedd Mercy University is scheduled to visit #1 Marywood University for a 6:00 p.m. AEC Semifinal contest on Tuesday, October 31.
